What StrandScribe processes, why, who else is involved, and how to have it removed.
Information we process
- Your account: the email address, name, and account identifier Google gives us when you sign in.
- What you share: reels you send to our Instagram account or paste as a link, and what is read from them (speech, on-screen text, a description of what is shown).
- Your Instagram sender identity, kept only as a one-way hash so that reels you send reach your inbox.
- What is made from it: briefs, the sources found and the passages quoted from them, drafts and their versions, and what you posted where.
- Your settings: Autopilot, your list of trusted and rejected sites, and your writing voice. A learned voice is a short list of style traits; the pages or text it was learned from are read once and not kept.
- Platform keys you connect, stored encrypted and used only to post for you.
- If you join the waiting list: your email address, kept to tell you when a place opens.
- Operational records needed for security, reliability, and troubleshooting, such as when you signed in and what an action’s outcome was.
How we use it
To sign you in, read what you share, research its claims, write drafts, post where you ask, prevent abuse, and keep the service running. We do not sell personal data, show advertising, or use your content to train models.
What is public
Nothing, unless you make it so. An article becomes public when you post it to a platform. If you turn on the “how this was checked” page for an article, that page is public at an address that cannot be guessed; it lists the sources, the passages found on them, and their ratings, and nothing about you or where the idea came from.
Who else is involved
We use other companies to provide the service, each receiving only what its job needs: Cloudflare (hosting, storage, and video processing), Google (sign-in), Groq (transcription and language models), Tavily (web search), and Unsplash (title images, when you choose one). Meta and Instagram handle your messages under their own terms before they reach us, and a platform you post to receives the article you send it.
Retention and deletion
The video file itself is kept privately and deleted as soon as it has been read, and in any case within 24 hours. Briefs, sources, drafts, and settings stay until you delete them or your account. You can delete a brief from its page and your whole account from your Profile page, or ask us at hi@strandscribe.com. Limited records may be kept where the law or security requires it.
See Data deletion for the steps.
Security and cookies
We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in. There are no advertising or tracking cookies. More detail is on the Security page.
Children
StrandScribe is not for children under 16. If we learn we hold a child’s information, we delete it.
